Lectures

Join us to learn more about Bartow County – how our past influences our future, cultural implications, personalities, and places. We feature local and regional historians, authors, and experts in various fields.

These events are usually free and all are open to the general public.

Lunch & Learn Lecture Series
Third Wednesday of each month from Noon to 1:00 pm.  Lectures take place at The Resource Center, located at 1 N. Gilmer Street, directly behind the Bartow History Museum.  Parking is located next to the building.

August 18, 2010- David Archer, local historian, will discuss the history of the 1869 Courthouse.

September 15,  2010- Don Kordecki, Technical Director of the Grand Theatre, will discuss the history of Cartersville's Grand Theatre.


 

Thursday Evening Lecture Series
Last Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.  Lectures take place at The Resource Center, located at 1 N. Gilmer Street, directly behind the Bartow History Museum. Parking is located next to the building.


August 26, 2010- Don Wells, President of Mountain Stewards, will discuss the Mystery of the Trees, an Indian Trails Project. He will give a power point presentation with integrated video clips of Native Americans discussing how their nation used the trees and other trail markers. 

September 30, 2010- Louise Staman, author of Loosening Corsets, will discuss Rebecca Latimer Felton. Book signing to follow.
